Slavery was officially abolished on July 1, 1863, by the Emancipation Act. Keti Koti means “broken chains.” In Rotterdam, there is a slavery monument on the Lloydkade, the departure point for slave ships. The festival starts at 12:00 noon in the Oude Westen neighborhood park, followed by the Black Vibes festival at 1:00 p.m. on Schouwburgplein....
