Delfshaven<\/strong><\/h2>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Historic Delfshaven is a beautiful historic area in the western part of Rotterdam. Since 1972, the historic part of Delfshaven was deemed a ‘protected cityscape’.In 1389 a canal known as the Delfshavense Schie was dug from Delft to the Maas river. The ships could thus find their way to the Nieuwe Maas. Around the lock, the Delfshaven town was formed as part of the city of Delft, which wanted to create a private seaport. After a rowdy history, Delfshaven declared itself an independent municipality in 1795 and in 1886 Delfshaven was united with Rotterdam.[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Originally, men in Delfshaven earned a living fi shing for herring or distilling jenever (Dutch gin). There are still many remains to be seen of these industries (distilleries, warehouses and all other small businesses). Nowadays, Historic Delfshaven is the vibrant center of Rotterdam, where good food and drinks, going out, terraces, city strolls and art and culture go hand in hand.[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Delfshaven is well known to the Dutch mainly because Piet Heijn was born there, and to Americans because the Pilgrim Fathers left from there. The Pelgrimvaderskerk of 1761 still reminds us of that time and is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays.[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]From Delfshaven it is not far to the Euromast.[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n

Euromast & The Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]The Euromast \u2013 Rotterdam’s tallest building \u2013 offers a fantastic 360-degree view of the city and harbor. A glass elevator brings you to the highest point. From the Euromast you cross the street and enter the Park. The Park is the most famous park in Rotterdam. In good weather, the Park is the ideal place to relax.
