The exhibition CUTE at Kunsthal Rotterdam, on view from July 5, explores the versatility of cuteness in art and pop culture. Visitors will experience interactive elements such as a Hello Kitty disco, anime installations, and a digital game arcade. With work by more than fifty international artists, including Takashi Murakami and KAWSxCampana, the exhibition highlights themes such as identity, technology, and nostalgia.

CUTE is structured around five themes that show different sides of cuteness, from comforting to disturbing. The exhibition shows how kawaii culture from Japan became popular worldwide and how artists use this visual language to address serious topics. In addition, young creators use digital media to bring a fresh perspective on what cute means today.
