Do’s & Don’ts in Rotterdam 

Do’s

• Keep the city clean and use the provided trash cans, as violators are prosecuted.
• Ignore any beggars and drug dealers who may approach you, and keep your valuables close at all times. (This is not a very common occurrence, but it is good to be aware.)
• Always carry photo identification with you, as being unable to ID yourself is against the law. You could get taken to the local police station and fined.

Don’ts

• Don’t accept any drug-related offers.
• Don’t buy soft drugs from anywhere except at coffee shops.
• Don’t cycle in pedestrian areas.
• You are not allowed to smoke inside bars, restaurants or shops.
• Don’t consume alcohol in public areas, as this is prohibited.
• You are not allowed to urinate in public.
• Don’t cause a nuisance: making loud noises, screaming or playing loud music in public areas is not allowed.
• Don’t camp in public areas; proper campsites are available.
